Kiva for political campaigns
This idea has come in from Henry who has suggested;
Idea:
A site where political campaigns (especially in third world) can post the help they need.
Background:
Kiva (which enables third world projects to seek loans from 1st world people) is brilliant.
While using it the other day I thought how about this for political campaigns? A site where a village in Tamil Nadu due to be swept away for a dam could call for support. Or a secular anti-violence political group in Iraq could ask for donations. Or a union seeking recognition from a Nike supplier, and being victimised, could call for pressure on Nike.
So I could search by any interests I have (child labour, political repression, alternative energy, whatever) or by type of support needed, or by region or for a company I work for. And provide the support needed.
Of course it would need some method of verifying (like Kiva does) or scoring as a reliable source.
Has it been done? I don’t know, I’ve not come across it.
